Wireless LAN MAN Custom RF Planning Tool

Using the power of Google Earth and Street View to provide a baseline gazetteer, Wireless LAN MAN has developed a sophisticated radio planning tool for outdoor networks design. The system can be used to plan Point to Point radio links as well as the creation of meshed and tiered networks designed to provide areas of continuous wireless access coverage - sometimes known as Hotzones.

The planning tool has been enhanced through the introduction of informational data layers allowing any type of mapped data to be placed on the gazetteer. In particular, the base line gazetteer can support shape files and vector layers. For radio planning use, Ordnance Survey Master Map files containing building shapes and outlines are of huge importance allowing pin point accuracy for choosing antenna locations.
